Most people I talk with agree that we have entered a new era in the body of Christ and the world at large. This new era or time (even epoch) carries new ways of expressing the Kingdom of God. It doesn’t alter the truth of who He is or how we should live. It offers new creative pathways of understanding and language that will become part of this new era.
In January, I began reading the Proverbs. In fact, I had trouble reading anything else. About the fourth month of reading the Proverbs, I wondered why. I also began to wonder if I would ever read anything else. There was a strong sense of gaining insight and revelation of the Father’s love, and I was learning fab truths about living in this new era.
Who, then, was the man behind the Proverbs? How did this man come to such great insight and wisdom? It says Solomon was and possibly still is the champion wisdom seeker. He gained his knowledge through an often-overlooked revelation. In 1 Kings 3, you will discover how he received wisdom and his first adventure into judging through that wisdom.
This new era has the beginning of what I call The Wisdom Culture. It is a time on the earth that we desperately need wisdom to outshine the lack of common sense, indecision, and misrepresentation. We also need to apply John Wimber’s desire to see the body of Christ grow in both Spirit and Word. We are to follow after the lead of the Spirit and, as Paul instructs, to base our life on the Scriptures as it is profitable for a variety of good reasons.
Reason - that is a big word in a somewhat shattered world. As believers, we have a way forward. It is Christ and Christ alone. We know that He is all, and He is in all. How, then, do we gain and grow in stature and the wisdom of God?
We practice the disciplines of God and the presence of God. We need both to have a full life in Christ.
I want to encourage you to do two things.
Read 1 Kings 3. Read the entire chapter and ask yourself:
What was I referring to when I mentioned an ‘often-overlooked’ revelation?

Because Solomon asked for wisdom, God gave him wisdom and all the other things everyone else would have normally asked for first.
Could it be verse 3: Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David?
