My experiences the last five years reflect what you've shared. God has prompted me to connect with newly met women on a deeper level. Always one-on-one, and just one or two at a time. None have been local. We Zoom for 1-2 hours each month and it has been incredibly beautiful, life-giving, and discipling. These have lasted for 2-3 years each. I've been the richer for it! So far all have been believers but God has been hinting lately about branching out to unbelievers. The adventure continues!
